Spectrums

My sister says that 95% of the time
I speak in footnotes and parenthetical phrases.
I tell her I blame it on my lavender aura,
which I discovered from a magazine quiz.
It said that my category is the least stable
and its members tend to be detached
from the rest of society.

I think my sister is meticulous,
which to me would be represented
by a brick red aura,
but I don't think there is such a thing.
I never read all of the summaries,
though, only skipped to the parts
that were of importance to me.

After taking the quiz,
I found a book at the library
to help you discover
your secondary aura.
I decided mine was blue, the nurturer.
I was glad my two auras matched,
and wanted to cry for the people
who walked around
with clashing ones,
even though most people could never tell.

Lavenders are also said
to live in dream worlds,
which makes me think that maybe
I made up the answers to the quiz.
